The health, safety, and well being of our guests and staff are of the greatest importance to us at all times, but even more so during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are all eager to welcome back our guests. Toward that end, we are closely monitoring Maine state official guidance, CDC and EPA guidelines, and local health officials' directives. We want to make you, our valued guests, aware that some experiences will be different during your stay in response to this guidance. We will do our very best to make your stay comfortable and safe.

We want to share with you some of the following important adjustments we will be making in response to this health crisis.

Disinfecting and Cleaning

The Inn on Carleton is proud to have a long-standing reputation for superior cleanliness throughout our property. This is evidenced by the hundreds of positive guest reviews we have received on sites such as TripAdvisor, Google, Expedia, and many more. However, exceptional times such as these have us taking extra measures above and beyond on standard cleaning to ensure your safety and health as well as our own.

We are routinely sanitizing and disinfecting guest touch areas throughout the Inn's common areas including door knobs, banisters, light switches, and furniture.

Hand sanitizer is available in guest rooms and common areas.

Our culinary staff is certified by the state in safe food handling procedures. We are taking greater attention to our already high personal hygiene habits, especially regarding handwashing and other health/safety standards when cleaning and preparing breakfasts. We are also using an EPA registered food safety disinfectant on kitchen surfaces.

Your Arrival

For the health and safety of our staff and other guests, all arriving guests are required to wear a mask during their arrival and check-in. We are also happy to arrange for a contactless, self check-in. We will be observing social distancing guidelines whenever possible and ask our guests to do the same with each other and with our staff. Our room keys will be sanitized between guest stays. Disposable gloves will be worn if handling any guest luggage. We cannot accept cash or checks for payment. Credit cards will be sanitized before and after handling, if needed at all.

Your Guest Room

Our housekeeping staff are frequently disinfecting all high touch areas in our public spaces and guest rooms. This includes door knobs, light switches, lamp switches, television remotes, bathroom fixtures and handles, bannisters, window shade handles, and more. We are using a EPA registered, institutional grade disinfectant on top of our normal cleaning products.

Our Housekeeping staff will clean and disinfect guestrooms between guest stays only. Our staff will not enter a guest room while occupied. Additional towels or other amenities will be delivered to guest room door and left outside in a plastic bag.

On our beds, we have removed all throw pillows, decorative shams, and replaced our bedspreads and duvet covers with new linen sheet top covers that are changed and sanitized between guest stays. We have also removed all magazines from our rooms. Copies of some of these items are available in our common areas for single use. Our Guest Directory is now available online.

Breakfast Service

For Guests who opt to join us for breakfast, in our Dining Room we will be serving breakfast at pre-arranged times with guest arriving separately during two separate service periods. We have reduced seating in our spacious Dining Room by 50% to ensure no more than six guests are in the dining room at any one time. Every guest will be seated at their own table for two. Tables are spaced a minimum of 6' away from each other. No communal dining will be allowed. Tables and chairs are sanitized between seatings. Guests not wishing to dine in our Dining Room may opt for our take-away breakfast to enjoy on or off property.

Our breakfast service will be prepared and plated by our trained culinary staff in our health department inspected kitchen. We will serve all items at your seat. We are not setting up a buffet. Salt and pepper shakers are sanitized between seatings. Masks and disposable gloves will be worn during food preparation and service. All serviceware is sanitized between guests.

We realize these protocols are a departure from the high level of personalized service we have built our reputation on. We greatly appreciate your understanding that these measures are to protect the health and safety of all our guests as well as our dedicated staff.
