Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Portland "the beautiful town that
is seated by the sea," is as enchanting today as it was in the 19th
century. You can enjoy an evening of professional theater, join concert-goers
at the Portland Symphony Orchestra or tour historic homes, such as Longfellow's
childhood home and the stately Victoria Mansion.

During summer, visitors enjoy harbor cruises, whale watches and boat
trips to the nearby Calendar Islands in Casco Bay. In the winter months,
you can ice skate at Deering Oaks Park or cross-country ski at nearby state
parks. Regardless of the season, sandy beaches and rocky coasts are within
a 15 minute drive and the town of Freeport, home of L.L. Bean and numerous
outlet shops, is only 20 minutes away.
